How Long It Takes
Yesterday's Hartford Courant editorial page eulogized Senator Eugene McCarthy as a great American who mastered the art of dissent in a time when our country was engaged in an unpopular war. A nice tribute, except that nowhere in it was there even a hint of irony, or a mention of today's war dissenters, who, by the evidence will have to wait three or four decades before their status changes from cowards and traitors (in the language of Coulter, Limbaugh, Hannity, and Schmidt) to courageous patriots.Posted by:Lary Bloom at 4:24 AM
